Two releases gave me CED-power (yes, I'm doing all the work with a standard calculator and CED 3.0 ©1991, no fucking Excel here which would make the work about 256 times more easy) enough to throw myself into another Ascii Gazette. This one was a bitch. We had 213 releases during my abscence, that wasn't more than a good small period in the golden days '95-97 but today it's a bitch since it ment LOADS of new crews and a LONG period to cover and check out. I've read ALL the collections right now during the three full days I worked with the Ascii Gazette Issue 14. I just saved them on my PC earlier and didn't bother about checking them out. Now I HAD to do it. Part fun, more 'funs cousin - NOT-FUNNY'. It's kinda REALLY hard to keep up with all the PC-based crews. The best thing would be if all of you who don't feel that I've gotten the quite right facts just wrote me an mail at xCluziwe@4u.net and told me the right facts. It was a special time when you got a logotitle and then had a limited time to draw it against other present artists. It was managed by Neurotrance. About time huh? · Phunk was reborn in late 1998 with current members Wolatile, Brane, Arlequin, Don Rapello, and Merlin. · Flite of ex-Caotic Style has become one of the world most successful in making skins for the mp3-player Winamp. A really cool new career for this old ascii-artist. · Style goes for more 100% as they kicked out coder-only Mulu in 1998. They have also gone in to have an informative and well-maintained homepage together with other larger groups like Mo'Soul. · The wellknown sysop of Sky Tower, Enzo has obviously gone into ascii- business as he's announced as an artist in the reformed Mo'Soul. But he's not listed and I've never seen any ascii from him so I left him out this time. His board is also still headquarters for the group. · Weapon X is a member of Die Kranken Bombers and Twilight but still keeps releasing under his own name, called his own productions. · Belzebub renamed himself to Yyrkoon. · Nemesis of Aerosol renamed himself to Darkus. · Elvis of Style also started calling himself E. · H7 created an alias as Don Bananas (dba). · Sative Mea was created by former Link 124 members Azzaro, Blaze and Revi. Zabora from Poland joined up. · There aint many things that hasn't already been done in the very limited ascii-business. There has been coded collections, multi-parted collections, horizontal collections, executable collections, and tousands of ascii/ansi- variations of the ascii-art. I tried something new in February this year when I released the first dots-only collection under the Save Our Souls label. The only characters that wasn't dot-based very the characters in the file-id data. · Die Kranken Bombers (mostly grafitti-based) merged with a grafitti-group called Wx merged to another grafitti group called Ahs. This was also the end of the ascii-sections explains founder Zaner. · Loads of new more or less serious groups appeared. Including: Aalto from Finland with Holmez a.k.a. Shank, and earlier also H7. Save Da Artists from Poland with one ascii-maker, Scab. Spif Boiz Inc. with one artist, german Vouck. Black Maiden is german and has Avenger and senior Lord Chaos as members. Here have I tried to complish a list of all collections that came to my hands (and that ought to be atleast about 98%) during the period since the latest Ascii Gazette. And how many are they then? The thirteenth Gazette was released at the 23/1 1998, and the ones I have stored on my harddrive are as many as 185 from '98 and 28 collections from '99 so far. That makes a total of 213 collections. Most of them released by new active crews with few joints from the old seniors in the business. There might be a few PC-releases in here but I only pick my collections at Amiga-based systems and if they are included there (zipped or not) I decide to use them here. My main sources during '97-'99 has been The Northern Palace, Hosee, and Exiles Ftp. One coop-collection this time, with Low Profile and Arcade. But on the other hand loads of artists who release under two or up to four(!) ascii-based crews. But credit is only given for the first mentioned group, in the file- name or in the start of the collection. In this issue the All Times Release Chart with the Top Ten Of All Times (which shows the most active groups through all times in a list based on Ascii Gazette (issue 2,3,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 and 14) continues.
