Coyote 05:05 Release Notes: This was the era of post-punk Los Angeles, and bands like X, the Blasters and Rank & File made great records. Sundown is Rank & File's great contribution to this scene, and despite the bizarre and egregious career moves of the Kinman brothers over the past decade-plus, Sundown is as strong, tuneful and compelling as the day it was released. With their voices locking together imperfectly and Alejandro Escovedo's guitar providing sharp counterpoint, this is a great chunk of cowpunk that would please even the most doctrinaire country traditionalist, as well as beat the hell out of nearly all of the new generation of country hacks. Not bad for a couple of punks from L.A.
