A song about suburban anxiety featuring a nice solo by Dirk. One of the first songs we wrote together. Boys Don't Lie - U2 meets The Who meets Morrissey. The frustration and confusion of young love. History Never Repeats - A failed romance, a second chance? Moody and hypnotic number which features the Rubber Choir on the outro. Dirk plays Bongo guitar on this one. The Girl with Something Extra - We wrote this after watching "Hedwig and the Angry Inch". Don't You Listen? - Country-tinged song (by way of R.E.M.) about the way we don't talk to each other anymore. Tin City - Husker Du and the New York Dolls on this one. Loud, fast, grinding guitars tell the story of living in a trailer park, driving a junker car and just getting by. For Someone Else - Missing someone who hasn't even left yet and dreading the passage of time. Living in Luxury - Unemployed and not caring. This Kinks-influenced track is short and to the point. The Big Swim - Who? Isolation, desperation, and a catchy chorus. What could be better? Watch out for the wood chipper in the middle bit! Too Close to Us - Echoes of XTC'S "Punch and Judy". This one has a beat that keeps turning around. Features a melody line based on a sample of Tony's neighbor's cat! Only Fools Fall in Love - Based on the theme of the 50's song "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?" this tune is about a guy who thinks he's cool and not jealous of anyone's relationship (sure-, not too much!) Vanity Affair - The ultimate love song, influenced by the Pistols and the Damned. I wrote and played rhythm guitar on this one. Turn it up and watch your speakers melt! Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. Hope you like it! Regards, Fred
