Shredder is the work of Stefan Meyer-Kahlen and has a history of very impressive results in computer chess tournaments. These include five official world championship titles. Shredder comes with two separated interfaces: First there is the full Fritz7 GUI, including the latest Playchess server software that allows you to play against people all over the world. On the same CD Rom you also get Stefan Meyer-Kahlen's own Shredder user platform. There is a a tournament book optimised for the Shredder playing style, written by Sandro Necci, as well as complete tablebases for 3 and 4 piece endings. The Shredder engine runs under both interfaces with equal strength, and it can handle one or more processors (SMP). Under the Shredder GUI you also have the Universal Chess Interface (UCI) and Winboard protocols, which allows you to install a large number of professional and amateur engines. Shredder also has a unique "Triple Brain" function which allows you to run two engines in parallel, while a third module decides which analysis is better in the current situation.
