We released the ³ ³ game to sites several minutes before FLT did - FLT even requested a nuke ³ ³ of their own release when it was clear the battle was lost. Two hours ³ ³ later, FLT concocted a story to try to get revenge for us beating them. ³ ³ ³ ³ Razor 1911 would like to clarify the events of yesterday all interested ³ ³ parties. Quite simply, FLT has pulled yet another dirty trick in a long, ³ ³ long laundry list of dirty underhanded tricks. ³ ³ ³ ³ Last Summer Razor started releasing again - August in fact. This was ³ ³ after a long dry spell. FLT was in a clear position of dominance, with ³ ³ Deviance a distant second, and nobody even trying for third. In our ³ ³ first month of the comeback, we took second place to FLT. We continued ³ ³ to perform very well, scoring lots of big titles that would have once ³ ³ automatically gone to FLT - No One Lives Forever, Giants, Quake 3 Team ³ ³ Arena, etc. During this time FLT began to display a high degree of ³ ³ animosity to Razor, calling us names (though never in their nfo files, I ³ ³ guess hypocrisy is universal these days) and much worse. Eventually, ³ ³ after losing on more games than they would have liked, they started doing ³ ³ things like nuking us if we released a game first and then racing the ³ ³ release (for example with Star Trek StarFleet Command 2 and Rainbow Six ³ ³ Covert Ops Essentials). Recently FLT has ordered nukes of working, legit ³ ³ Razor releases simply out of spite (911 Fire Rescue a few weeks ago, ³ ³ for example). ³ ³ ³ ³ Over the last few months, Deviance has put together a very nice run and ³ ³ clearly established themselves as a superior group to FLT. In response, ³ ³ FLT has become more bitter than ever and is giving no quarter in its effort³ ³ to discredit the competition wherever possible. Because of Deviance's ³ ³ recent releasing prowess, it is very easy for them to pick on the little ³ ³ kid on the block, namely Razor 1911. We pride ourselves in being a small, ³ ³ cohesive team, putting out games for fun and doing the best we can without ³ ³ worrying about being #1. We have made our share of mistakes, nobody can ³ ³ deny that, but yesterday's release was not one of them. ³ ³ ³ ³ For a very long time, games that are intended primarily for network play ³ ³ have been released with only the disc protection removed (if any existed to³ ³ begin with) and a serial number included so the game could be played in ³ ³ a single player, and sometimes a LAN mode (though some of the games do ³ ³ require unique keys to be played over a LAN). Legends of Might and Magic ³ ³ is no different. There was no disc based protection, only a key needed ³ ³ to install the game so that single player games could be enjoyed, and the ³ ³ possibility of LAN play provided the game allowed the same key to be used ³ ³ on a LAN. Our initial release included only a serial number - AS DID THE ³ ³ INITIAL FLT DUPE WHICH WAS LATER NUKED. Worth noting also is the fact ³ ³ that the FLT sublabel Class did not release the game with the "crack" ³ ³ that FLT later used - only additional keys were included. ³ ³ ³ ³ This is a very salient point. FLT put the game out in exactly the same ³ ³ format we did upon initial release. It was only after they had lost that ³ ³ they came up with the outrageous solution to their defeat which was then ³ ³ employed against Razor 1911. ³ ³ ³ ³ I mentioned hypocrisy earlier. If FLT truly believed in releasing the game³ ³ in the manner in which they did, you would not have seen a Quake 3 release ³ ³ from FLT several years ago which included a key but no network play. You ³ ³ Would not have seen a Counter-Strike release from their EPH sublabel - CS ³ ³ is not playable without a unique key, and doesn't even have singleplayer ³ ³ practice missions like LoMM. You would not have seen a Tribes 2 release ³ ³ that included a key .. or a Kohan release .. or many others. Yesterday FLT³ ³ abandoned one of the unwritten rules of releasing, and that is that ³ ³ games such as this are to be released with a key so that they may be ³ ³ enjoyed in singleplayer, but anything beyond that is a "bonus" which the ³ ³ end user may eventually get in the form of a key generator ³ ³ or something like the many indepedant cracks for Quake 3 and Kohan which ³ ³ allowed for playing the game without network authentication. ³ ³ ³ ³ Had FLT released their "cracked release" as a bonus, a patch to allow for ³ ³ non-authenticated server games, and not re-released the entire game as if ³ ³ to make it seem the Razor release were somehow improper, you would not be ³ ³ reading this text. But the fact that FLT makes a habit of systematically ³ ³ ignoring the rules of fair conduct between groups required such a response.³ ³ It is true that FLT has earned, through a lot of releases over the last ³ ³ couple of years, a place in scene memory. They do not, however, deserve the³ ³ respect of their peers -and this is something we wish to make clear at this³ ³ time. While FLT may release a lot, they do not lift a finger to earn the ³ ³ respect of Razor, and I would also think Deviance feels the same way though³ ³ I cannot speak for them, as FLT has screwed them over in shady ways on more³ ³ than one occasion. We do not respect FLT and until the group demonstrates ³ ³ its ability to behave in a responsible way towards its peers, we will not. ³ ³ ³ ³ Ultimately, the end user is who is hurt by the ruthless actions of FLT, and³ ³ others who might choose to behave in an underhanded manner. By using their³ ³ substantial position in the scene to rob you of your choices, they are ³ ³ undermining what the competition between groups is all about - competition ³ ³ between peers who respect each other and do their best to play within the ³ ³ limits of the game. ³ ³ ³ ³Would you root for a baseball team that trotted 6 outfielders onto the field³ ³each game while its opponents were honor-bound to play with only the regular³ ³complement? We wouldn't, either. ³ ³ ³ ³ - Team Razor 1911 - ³ ³ ³ ³ GROUP GREETS: ³ ³ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ³ ³ Razor 1911 salutes its friends and competitors around the world ... ³ ³ Fairlight, Deviance, Class, Myth, Divine, and Static. ³ ³ ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ /\ Razor 1911 /__\ Since 1985 /\ /\ /__\/__\ SUPPORT THE COMPANIES THAT PRODUCE QUALITY SOFTWARE!
