A fantastic debut from Carol Riddick -- the Philly singer who's appeared on
records with Musiq, Jill Scott, Kindred, and Anthony Hamilton -- but who sounds
even more amazing as a solo act on her own! Carol's got a really incredible
sound here -- a fullness and depth that strike us as strongly as Jill Scott on
her landmark first LP -- and which is partially due to some tremendous
contributions from James Poyser, who gives the record a hip, laidback, and
magically soulful feel that's every bit the best side of the current Philly
sound. But Carol's also no Philly copycat either, because like the best from her
scene, she steps forth with a uniqueness that only adds to the strength of the
album -- augmented by a great range of original compositions.
