Hybrid production from Confutatis on Ai records. Created by Bernhard
Pucher, a musician who for the last decade has produced numerous
releases involving a variety of musical styles under aliases such as
Brian Aneurysm and Echopilot. This full length release follows the
"Light Reflects Sound" EP, part of the Dan Holdsworth sleeve art
series on Ai from November last year.

"Built In Anger" is a departure from the usual Ai styled electro
meets IDM, sure it follows the same path in parts, "My Statement"
settles into familiar Ai territory, a fine drifting electro track
with melodic harmonies and infectious piano lines. "Built In Anger"
the title track starts with some speaker punishing crunchy sub bass
sounds that build for the first two minutes before heavy drones
drift in and lead the track off into a dark brooding direction.

But on the whole this release has a darker more upbeat electro
sound, a few of the ten tracks on "Built In Anger" have muted
spoken vocals from Pucher himself and his partner Cristy Jordan,
in particular the tracks "Obsession", "Victimize" and "To Die And
Be" which are more akin to the work of Adult or Swayzak.

A brave new release from Ai, one which places the labels sound a
couple of degrees off centre from the normal electro standard and
again proves their Midas like status.
