Originally Sweetbox was the idea of the producer Geo, who wanted to create an act to give all his ideas and creativity enough space to breathe. Geo wanted to use different styles and to work with different singers. Like a kind of a sweet box, which you open and take out a candy of your taste without knowing exactly its taste. The Sweetbox debut single “Booyah – Here We Go” (1995) with singer Kimberley Kearney as well as the second release “Shakalaka” with singer Dacia Bridges in 1996 (which was #1 at New York City Club Charts for 3 weeks) entered radio, club and sales charts right away. Than Geo met Tina Harris and was fascinated by her urban aura and rap skills. Sweetbox’ music became a very special “pop meets rap meets classic style”. After their first single “I’ll Die For You” in 1997 the world-wide smash hit “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” went immediately into the top of the charts everywhere. This track, which is based on Johann Sebastian Bach’s famous “Air” (on a G string), has branded Sweetbox a lot. The album reached double platinum status in many countries and Sweetbox was awarded 2 Japanese Grammies in the categories “Best International Artist” and “Best Song Of The Year” After the huge success Geo felt like it’s time to go on and to look for new inspiration. He found “her” finally in sunny California – in Jade Villalon who was then only 18 years old. Her voice, her song writing skills and her personality would fit brilliantly to the new ideas that Geo had been developing. Since than this hasn’t changed – even after the recording of 4 albums and many successful tracks such as “For The Lonely” (2000), “Crazy” (2001), “Read My Mind” (2002), “Life Is Cool”, “Chyna Girl” (2003) or “Killing Me D.J.” (2004) to mention only few. They both still feel the same power & enthusiasm from their first days.
